The King Amongst the Queens is a vibrant expressive artwork, that aims to capture the beauty of a freshly cut bunch of Proteas. This beautiful bunch sat on my kitchen table for days. I observed the beautiful composition of the flowers and created a series of drawings that resulted in this painting.  I loved the way the King Protea comanded its own space within the vase and as result I decided to make reference to this in the title.
